Ngorongoro Crater

The world's largest inactive, unbroken and unfilled volcanic caldera and home to the highest density of big game in Africa

NGORONGORO CRATER

Descend into the largest volcanic caldera on earth with one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa- prides of lions, lakes full of flamingos, and lots of black rhinos and leopards set against the backdrop of 360 degree 2,000 foot vertical walls. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth. Endangered black rhino are protected within its rim, giant tusked elephants wander the forests, black-maned lions stalk the grasslands, and flamingoes crowd the soda lakes. An estimated 25,000 large mammals are resident in this bowl of plenty, including a population of approximately 6,000 resident wildebeest, 16 highly endangered black rhino and around 70 lions. Cheetah move in and out of the Crater, while leopard are most often encountered in the spectacular Lerai Forest.

REST & REJUVENATE

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge:

This stunning lodge sits on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater. The destination itself is fantastically romantic and inspiring but this lodge is next level – each suite’s exterior is built in the Masaai tribe’s rustic mud-and-stick manyatta style; each interior is fitted in total luxury, including an ensuite chandelier-lit bathroom and an opulent gem-tone design, all of which offer a plush frame for the dramatic views out your panoramic window. This is perhaps the most gorgeous sunrise and sunset on Earth.

The Highlands:

The Highlands redefines the Ngorongoro experience. The property is set on the high slopes of the Olmoti volcano & the accommodation consists of eight canvas-and-glass domed suites, inspired by the traditional Maasai bomas which dot the landscape - striking a perfect balance between a true wilderness experience and a high-style, contemporary escape. The famous Ngorongoro Crater is easily accessible from camp, while the setting ensures maximum privacy, sweeping views extending all the way to the Serengeti and a range of activities beyond the classic crater descent and simply not possible elsewhere in Ngorongoro.

Entamanu Ngorongoro:

Perched high on the Ngorongoro Crater's rim, Entamanu Ngorongoro is the ultimate highland retreat with unparalleled views both into the crater and out over the mighty Serengeti, not to mention the property's private access road to the Seneto descend. Prepare yourself for an exclusive discovery of Africa's Garden of Eden - while the entirety of the Ngorongoro Crater is at your fingertips, when you stay at Entamanu, you actually have a little piece of it all to yourself. This is a place to see, but not be seen. An eco-friendly and intimate property - designed to be entirely removable with minimal disturbance to the environment & featuring only six luxury tents, two of which include a mezzanine level and are ideal for families with children or those travelling in larger groups.
