Arctic Trekking Safari

On this five-day trek through the Arctic’s Svalbard, there are an endless number of adventures to be had. From hiking alongside glaciers to wandering beachside plains, there is a lot of ground to cover on this walking safari. Each night will be spent camping outdoors, with large communal tents to share meals and smaller tents to sleep in. What to Know

  • This trip takes place mid July to mid August

  • The weather in the Arctic can be unpredictable and as a result your trip is subject to changes in itinerary

  • Although it is not required, it is recommended that you have previous hiking knowledge and you must be physically fit enough to handle the rugged terrain and long hours of walking

  • Sleeping tents are shared between two trip participants

  • Each participant is asked to take an evening polar bear watch shift

  • Minimum age is 16 years old

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: PREPARATION

Get picked up at your hotel and learn about your trip from an informational briefing. Take a Polarcirkel boat to your camp in Ekmanfjorden. 

Day 2-4: EXPLORE EKMANFJORDEN

Each day will take you on a new journey in Ekmanfjorden. Routes can be both long and short, alongside glaciers, the fjord coast, or mountain ridges. You will stay at the same base camp each night, meaning you will find familiarity in your shared food and sleeping quarters. 

Day 5: FAREWELL

Take a boat back to Longyearbyen in the early afternoon.
